Techology-Free February

It's been awhile since we've posted anything, and it's a little ironic that this post is going to be the one that breaks the silence. Essentially, it's notifying people of another silence that we are going to be self-imposing. Lately we've been feeling more and more that technology has become too saturated into our lives. Our daily routine has become this: get home from work, eat dinner in front of the tv, watch all of our recorded tv shows or a movie, and go to bed. Throughout all of that, there is frequent e-mail checking, Facebook updating, and random internet surfing. Don't get me wrong, we both find time to get out and have dinner together and enjoy free time with our friends, but our home entertainment is almost all electronic. We had a great time hanging out with each other while we were in Africa, and all we had to entertain ourselves over there were some books and board games.

So, here are the rules. For the next two week, once we're home from work, the cell phones go off and the TV and computers stay turned off. We'll still have access to our phones and e-mail while at work, so if you need to send us an e-mail, we'll still get it. We also will be reachable via our home phone, so if you don't have that number and need to get in touch, send us an e-mail for the number. I'll have to make an exception for the nights I'm on call. Hopefully this means we may be getting out a little more and spending time with friends too. Wish us luck!
