It's been awhile...

So, we haven't posted anything in a long time. We're both going to attempt to get better at this. That means more posts about day-to-day life; no longer posting after huge events happen in the world. That being said, I'll have to cover the biggest event of the year with this one. That's right, my birthday happened since the last time you heard from us. What exciting things happened on that most glorious of days? Actually, not much. I was on call for my birthday. It seems like I've always got something crappy scheduled on or around that day, and this year was no different. I spent my 28th staying up all night during a 30-hour shift taking care of sick children.

However, the real present came the next day. I'm DONE with my inpatient ward months for awhile!!! I've spent the last week and a half in the newborn nursery. This means I spend my mornings holding babies and telling parents that they have the most beautiful child in the world. It really is fun! The babies in the nursery are all healthy for the most part. If they were sick, they'd be in the NICU out of the grasp of my care. They really are fun to work with, and I love being able to give that reassurance to new families that their little one is healthy. Plus, if a baby's getting a little fussy, I get to pick it up and stick my finger in its mouth to try to calm it down. The nurses have given me a little bit of a hard time because I'm a singer, but it sometimes calms the little ones. If that doesn't work and the baby's still crying, ship it off to momma!

Many residents have fallen into the trap of getting pregnant during their nursery month, but don't get your hopes up for us. We're both still way to busy getting adjusted to living in Tucson and still enjoying being (fairly) newlyweds. Speaking of which, I love my wife! Our funds didn't allow for a super-extravagant Valentine's Day, but Emily made an awesome candlelight dinner for the two of us. Oh yes, it was delicious!

Aside from all of that, there's not been a ton going on around here. We're still looking to buy some bikes to help us get out and enjoy Tucson's amazing weather. This weekend has been a really relaxing one. We've spent alot of it cleaning the house and pruning the evil trees in our back yard. I say evil because no matter how far you cut the limbs back, they keep spreading until eventually you can't walk under them. They've also been spreading this yellowish pollen-like stuff all over our patio for the last month, which builds up very quickly. The munchkin really enjoyed the pile of sticks to chew on though, and she's found interesting new places to seek refreshment.

So that's been our lives recently. I'll leave you with one final thing to entertain: The University of Arizona pediatric interns demanding some R-E-S-P-E-C-T, and failing miserably.
